JUNA TECH Mass-Produces JP Series PEM Electrolysis MEAs
Driven by the growth of the green hydrogen industry, PEM water electrolysis equipment is now entering the stage of industrial-scale application. The market has developed clearer expectations for cost, performance, stability, and adaptability. However, in the early stages of domestic PEM electrolysis development, diverse structural designs, an immature core materials supply chain, and a lack of standardized component combinations have hindered cost reduction and commercialization.
In response, JUNA TECH has launched its mass-production JP Series PEM electrolysis MEAs, achieving a cathode Pt loading of just 0.35 mg/cm² and anode Ir loading of only 0.86 mg/cm², reducing costs by approximately 20%.
Currently, the first-generation JP-30000 MEA has demonstrated stable operation at 1.84V @ 2A/cm², 65°C, N115 in a 20 Nm³/h industrial electrolyzer. Meanwhile, an improved second-generation product has already achieved 1.75V @ 2A/cm², 65°C, N115 in laboratory tests.
"It took nearly three years to bring our PEM electrolysis MEA from concept to mass production. We've conducted in-depth research on formulations, structures, material selection, and manufacturing processes. Our client tests confirm that even in large-scale production (500×600mm MEAs), we maintain uniform coating thickness, consistent loading, and stable product quality. Mass production began successfully in December of last year. Additionally, we have tested the compatibility of our catalyst layers with various proton exchange membranes (PEMs), providing valuable data for the next step in full domestic substitution."
